Nina the night owl never napped. Not at nine in the morning, not at noon.
"Nina!" called Finn the finch. "I need to show you something!"
Nina yawned. She had been up all night counting nuts.
"Can it wait, Finn? I'm so tired I can hardly stand."
Finn shook his head. "No! There's a new animal in town. He makes the funniest noises!"
Nina and Finn went down the narrow path. The sun was shining on the green plants.
"Where is this noisy animal?" Nina asked.
"In the next clearing," said Finn. "Listen!"
They heard a strange sound. SNNNNNNNNN! Then a funny noise like HONK!
"What on earth?" Nina wondered.
They peeked around the corner. There, on a pink blanket, was Ben the brown bear. He was fast asleep!
"That's the noise?" Nina asked. "Ben is just snoring!"
Then Ben made the HONK sound again. His paw went up to his nose, but he didn't wake up.
Nina and Finn giggled. "Ben doesn't know he's making those sounds!"
Just then, Nina felt so tired she had to sit down. She leaned against a thin tree trunk.
"I need a tiny nap," she said.
Before Finn could answer, Nina fell fast asleep. And guess what? She started making funny sounds too!
TWEETLE-DEE-DEE! BANG! ZOOM!
Finn was amazed. "Nina talks in her sleep!"
Ben woke up and joined Finn. They spent the entire afternoon listening to Nina's nonsense words and laughing until the sun went down.
And Nina? She had the best nap ever—even if she didn't know it!
